Muslin Footman - Nudaria mundana

Description

Wingspan 19 to 23 mm. This is a delicate species with slightly rounded, strongly transparent wings that have two, roughly V shaped cross lines. The hindwing is entirely plain.

When to see it

It can be found on the wing from June to August.

Life History

The overwintering larvae feed on lichens growing on bushes, fences and gateposts, and dry stone walls.

UK Status

Occurs in scattered localities throughout much of Britain. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as local.

VC55 Status

Fairly frequent but not common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R). Moth Group status = B (scarce resident or restricted distribution or regular migrant.)
