Scaly Sawgill - Neolentinus lepideus

Description

It has a tough fleshy fruit-body that is convex intially, then flattens as it matures.  The margins are inrolled. The cap is whitish to brownish and covered in dark scales that are denser towards the centre. Gills are whitish, getting darker as the fruit-body ages.

Habitat

Emerging from dead and decaying conifer wood, including cut timber and fence-posts, and other man-made wooden structures.

Summer-autumn.
